All members of our staff have undergone plastic surgery, so we all understand that those coming to Marchant Plastic Surgery have questions about the safety, expectations, and results of plastic surgery. Doylestown surgeon Dr. Eric A. Marchant believes plastic surgery is a matter of trust. This means that patients and doctors communicate best when patients receive only the most straightforward, honest answers to their questions. If you do not find the answer to your question here or wish to learn more, please contact our practice.
The decision to get plastic surgery should not be made in haste, but with sound judgment, full knowledge of the benefits, possible risks, and financial limitations. Our goal is to assist you in making the right choice for your lifestyle. Please schedule a plastic surgery consultation with Dr. Marchant to learn more about what you can expect from the procedure or procedures of interest to you. We strive to provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision about your plastic surgery.
All plastic surgeons train as cosmetic and reconstructive surgeons. Thus, all plastic surgeons are qualified to perform cosmetic surgery. However, not all cosmetic surgeons are plastic surgeons. Some may be otolaryngologists who perform facial plastic surgery. Others may be dermatologists who perform liposuction. It is important to understand that plastic surgeons are the only physicians who can be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which is the only plastic surgery board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. Patients should see a surgeon certified by ABMS for their plastic surgery procedure. Doylestown surgeon Dr. Marchant is certified to perform plastic surgery.
We understand that finances are a concern for some of our patients and we are willing to quote an estimated fee to patients who contact us by email or telephone. After a patient has met with Dr. Marchant for a plastic surgery consultation at our Doylestown office, a more accurate fee can be given for any procedure or combination of procedures. Fees will always be as complete as possible, including the surgeon’s fee, price of implants or devices, anesthesiologist’s fee (if applicable), facility fee (if applicable), and preoperative testing fee (if applicable). Nobody likes a surprise in this regard! Contact our practice to get an estimate or to schedule a consultation.
Our office has achieved accreditation (Class A) by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. This achievement demonstrates our practice’s commitment to patient safety in every way, which we maintain through rigorous standards for surgeon and staff credentials, sterility protocol, and peer review.
We safely perform procedures such as liposuction, neck lift, eyelid lift, ear reshaping, and many more minor plastic surgery procedures in our private Doylestown office’s surgical suite. However, there are some procedures that we feel are more safely performed in an outpatient or hospital facility. These include breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, abdominoplasty, breast reduction, and brow lift.
Although it is always more confidential and cost-effective to undergo procedures in an office setting, we know there is no compromise when it comes to our patients’ safety.
This varies by procedure and is best answered in your consultation with Dr. Marchant. Although we try to give you as much information as possible over the telephone, an in-person consultation allows us to better understand your home and work responsibilities so that you can return to them without jeopardizing your health or aesthetic result. You may also visit our face, body, and breast pages for more information about the average recovery time for individual procedures.
Postoperative pain is frequently due to swelling. There are some patients who experience relatively no postoperative pain and others who find the postoperative period uncomfortable.
Marchant Plastic Surgery prepares plastic surgery patients with postoperative pain management in the preoperative stage. We also routinely prescribe natural medications for bruising and swelling several days prior to surgery. Patients then continue to take the natural medications after surgery to continue curbing the body's reaction to the surgery, keeping swelling to a minimum.
We also offer ‘pain pumps’ for certain operative sites. Pain pumps deliver a local anesthetic to the surgery sites. Patients who are interested in pain pumps should discuss this with Dr. Marchant before surgery.
It is best to discuss your anesthesia choices with Dr. Marchant before the operation. It’s important to note that the more comfortable the patient while under anesthesia, the more efficient the surgeon. With efficiency, the patient is under anesthesia for less time, which will also give a smoother recovery, as well.
